How to Redeem Genshin Codes

Which route to use

Find your platform. This is the whole answer — the detail is underneath.

On Xbox Series X|S? Use the official redemption page in a browser — the same route as PC.

Four things to have ready before you start

Every failed redemption traces back to one of these four. Checking them first takes ten seconds and saves the retry loop.

• Adventure Rank 10. The redemption page will not accept a code below it. Two historic exceptions existed — GENSHINGIFT and the old Prime Gaming codes — which could be redeemed from Adventure Rank 1, but even those needed Adventure Rank 2 before the reward could be collected from the in-game mailbox.
• The account you actually play on. Codes are per account, not per device. If you sign in with a Google or Apple login that is not the one linked to your game progress, every code will look invalid.
• The right server. Codes are server-specific. You pick the server on the redemption page, and a code issued for one server will not validate on another.
• Your exact character nickname. The page matches it against the account you signed in with. Capitalisation and non-Latin characters count, so copy it out of the game rather than retyping it.

Rewards always arrive by in-game mail, never straight into your inventory, and that mail defaults to a 30-day window. Redeeming and then forgetting to open Mail is the most common “the code did nothing” report we get.

PC — both routes, step by step

Route A: the official redemption page

1. Open genshin.hoyoverse.com/en/gift in your browser.
2. Sign in with the HoYoverse account your game progress is on.
3. Select your server from the dropdown.
4. Enter your in-game character nickname exactly as it appears.
5. Paste the code into the code field and press Redeem.
6. Wait for the “Redemption Successful” confirmation.
7. Open the game, go to Mail, and claim the reward.

Route B: in the game

1. Open the Paimon menu and select Settings.
2. Go to the Account tab.
3. Select Redeem Code.
4. Paste the code and press Exchange.
5. Claim the reward from your in-game Mail.

Common mistakes on PC

• Leaving an old tab open. The redemption page keeps a session. If you opened it hours ago and come back, the session has expired and the code reads as invalid rather than as a login problem. Reload the page and sign in again.
• Pasting from a chat app. A trailing space copied along with the code is enough to invalidate it. Paste into an empty field rather than over existing text.
• Signing in with the wrong identity provider. Using “Sign in with Google” when your game progress is on a username-and-password HoYoverse account signs you into a different, empty account.
• Picking the server from memory. Read the dropdown rather than assuming. The page previews the character nickname before you submit — if that is not your character, stop.

Mobile — Android and iPhone are not the same

Android: in the game

1. Open the Paimon menu and select Settings.
2. Go to the Account tab.
3. Select Redeem Code.
4. Paste the code and press Exchange.
5. Claim the reward from your in-game Mail.

Android can also use the browser route below. There is no advantage to it, but it works.

iPhone and iPad: browser only

iOS does not expose the in-game redemption menu. If you go looking for Settings → Account → Redeem Code on an iPhone you will not find it, and that is not a bug and not a region restriction — the menu is simply not there.

1. Open Safari or Chrome — not an in-app browser.
2. Go to genshin.hoyoverse.com/en/gift.
3. Sign in with your HoYoverse account.
4. Select your server and enter your character nickname.
5. Paste the code, press Redeem, then claim the reward from in-game Mail.

Common mistakes on mobile

• Using an in-app browser. Tapping a code link inside a social app opens a stripped-down browser where the sign-in step often cannot complete. Copy the address and open it in Safari or Chrome instead.
• Autocapitalisation. Mobile keyboards capitalise the first letter of a field by default. Codes are case-sensitive, so a single autocorrected character invalidates the whole string.
• Typing from a screenshot. Reading a code off an image and retyping it introduces errors that are invisible to you but fatal to the code. Copy the string as text where you can.
• Hunting for the in-game menu on iOS. It does not exist there. This is the single most common wasted attempt we see.
• Double-tapping Redeem. Submitting twice in quick succession can trip a rate limit, after which correct codes also start failing. Submit once and wait.

PlayStation — step by step

1. Launch Genshin Impact on your PlayStation.
2. Open Settings from the menu.
3. Go to the Account tab.
4. Select Redeem Code.
5. Enter the code and press Exchange.
6. Claim the reward from your in-game Mail.

If you have not linked a HoYoverse account yet: create it from your PlayStation Genshin account settings first (Settings → Account → User Center). Creating the HoYoverse account on the website first can stop the two from linking, and that mistake is not always reversible.

Common mistakes on PlayStation

• Creating the HoYoverse account in the wrong order. See the note above — this is the one PlayStation-specific mistake that can cost you the account link.
• On-screen keyboard look-alikes. Codes mix letters and digits. On a controller keyboard, O and 0, and I and 1, are easy to confuse and hard to spot. Read the string back character by character.
• A code issued for another server. A China-server code will never validate on a global PlayStation account, no matter how many times it is reposted on a global list.
• Assuming cross-save covers the code. Redeeming credits the account you are signed in as. If you play on both PlayStation and PC, make sure you redeemed on the account that holds the progress you want the reward on.

If the code is rejected anyway

Followed the right route and it still will not go through? The message you get tells you which of four problems you have, and they point in different directions — so read it before retrying.

• Already used / already claimed — the code is fine, your account has spent it. Sign in to the account you actually play on.
• Invalid — the string is wrong. A typo or a stray space, not an expiry problem.
• Expired — genuinely closed. Compare it against a list that dates its rows.
• Not valid for this server — a server mismatch, or a server-locked code.
